Simple Pleasures

Living with someone who loves to cook means that even everyday meals become special. We had a friend spending a couple nights here on her way through Lyon during her vacation, and when Lucas asked us if a salad and fried potatoes sounded good for dinner, we certainly didn't expect to be presented with this.

That's smoked trout in the salad, and the potatoes, known as ratte, are from my in-laws' garden. There was a homemade mustard vinaigrette to go with it of course.

Imagine our further surprise when the dessert was served! It's a new invention, we called it Apple Crumble Tatin (a tatin is an upside down pie)

I never know what he will bring out of the kitchen next, but it's guaranteed to be delicious!.
