Well at least I hope they can't. I collected my Carte de Sejour yesterday. It's valid for ten years, and is of course renewable. The next step will be naturalisation. That should take around 15 months, and then I'll be French. Ooh la la!
What else this means, as I found out yesterday, is that I am now a permanent resident of a country where you have to pay to have your mail forwarded. Oh well. Can't win 'em all right?
