International Flair
Have you ever attended a Thanksgiving dinner where Americans were in the minority? No? Well you should have been at Mary and Phillipe's place last night. In attendance were
Americans: 3 &1/2 (Sydni is half American, half French)
French: 5&1/2 (Sydni again)
Australians: 8!!!
Grenadians: 1 (that's me!)
English: 2
Algerians: 1
Kenyans: 1
In all we were 22. What an awesome night! For some it was their first ever Thanksgiving, but I suspect not the last. The menu was a mix of the traditional and not so traditional:
As I mentioned before no turkey, just 5 chickens and 1 duck
Candied yams
2 kinds of stuffing
Mashed potatoes
Green Bean Casserole
Cranberry Sauce (homemade!)
Pumpkin Pie with whipped cream (also homemade)
Pumpkin roll
Cheesecake
assortment of wine including an excellent Rivesaltes and a Cabernet Sauvignon
And of course to top things off we had to listen to The Thanksgiving Song by Adam Sandler. I love gatherings like these with so much diversity, so many people with different experiences and stories to tell. In English and French. We couldn't have asked for a better soiree.
