Because I don't have many friends here in France, I probably spend a disproportionate amount of time online on message boards and chatting in instant messengers. This weekend I realised that I seem to have 2 completely different lives. We spent the weekend away in the countryside with friends and family of Lucas, with no internet access. Actually that's not true, I did have dial-up access for part of the time, but amazingly I wasn't even tempted to go online.
Those three days totally disconnected from my virtual life were a well needed break. I spent time getting to know new friends, eating good food and drinking great wine, singing, even dancing a little, and as a secondary effect improving my French a bit more. We drove around the beautiful country side and communed with nature. I honestly gave little thought to e-mail, internet, scrapbooking or blogs. A real reminder that nothing can take the place of a well lived real life.
Of course I still had my new best friend, also known as my Fuji FinePix on hand to record it all. After all, I knew I had to come back and share it all with you, my virtual friends and family.

Fran....sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, and yes there are times when we need to "disconnect" with the virtual world....but I am glad you came back!! Love the photos and the wine looks so delicious!!
yes, it's definitely nice to take a break every now and then. great pictures and it seems like you all had a great time! always nice to spend time with family :)
Sounds like you had a great time!
Yes Franny, we need to disconnect sometimes....I will take a breather when I go to St. Lucia in May. I'll check in but I won't be online for 12 or more hours a day (smile)!
Disconnect :O what's that ROFLOL!! only kidding. I think I need to do that and get some other stuff done. My books are piling up, my scrapping as slowed, etc. all because I can't seem to disconnect :-)
I know exactly what you mean - when I go home I hardly go online although the computer is right there (with access) because I have all these other things to do.
Maybe I check my mail once every couple of days ...
Sounds like you had an amazing weekend! Love the photos - the cows are too funny :) And that last scene - would have loved to be there in person to see that landscape!
