This started off as a comment on Karen's blog in response to her post and question about dream houses, but I realised it would be way too long as a comment, and since I hadn't yet decided what my topic would be today, I decided to kill two birds with one stone.
We are constantly thinking about our dream house (or should I say houses, since one of our dreams is to have a house in France and another in Grenada). In fact when we first started dating and things got serious we had a whole conversation describing what our house would be like if money was no object.
My husband is the cook, so for him a large, well equipped kitchen in non-negotiable. For me a scraproom/ craft room/ office is imperative (in fact at least once a day when I get frustrated in my tiny creative space I shout " I NEED a ROOM!" This tends to fall on deaf ears). We will also need a wine cellar, that goes without saying. Lucas is a huge music buff (he plays the saxophone and also owns a bass guitar, emphasis on owns) and since his brother is a professional musician, a sound proof music room, from my point of view, has to be taken into consideration. A large master bedroom with walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom has always been one of my dreams. I really want to have a sitting area in there, a comfy chair for reading, and a nice sofa.
Lucas loves having his friends over (and most of them are into music as well), and I know he would love to have a hang out lounge, a kind of entertainment area, for watching movies, listening to music etc. We'd probably put a huge dining table in there because he enjoys nothing better than cooking for 20 + people. In fact it has taken him at least a year to learn how to cook for 2.
I suppose one day we'll have children (that's another long topic for another day) so of course bedrooms for them (why am I speaking in the plural?), maybe a playroom, and definitely at least one guest bedroom. Whichever country we have a house in we will be having guests, so that's important. I'd love to have a laundry/mudroom for all those household tasks, I prefer to keep those kind of things out of the way (impossible in a tiny 1-bedroom apartment). And of course we'd have the standard living room and dining room.
It's wonderful to dream isn't it? And now I think I need to go apply for a job.

Sounds beautiful!!! Hope it comes true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's always fun to dream about your "dream" home! Hoping someday my Realtor hubby will be able to find us ours and we'll be able to afford it!LOL
Ahhh. I particularly like the idea of the house in Grenada. I've never been their, but a friend spent a summer on the islands and brought back stories of it's beauty.
